Quick note while we say farewell to cute Baños and await our bus south.

Not sure what to expect with this one; I confess the only reason we’re making an effort to spend time in Riobamba is for an infamous train ride that chugs its way up a (“they said it couldn’t be done”) bit of impossibly steep track known as the Nariz del Diablo. Which says it all really.

So of course we’re looking forward to that, although I am trying my best to talk Rich off the roof (apparently where all the cool kids sit).

Anyway, that’s Wednesday. Then Thursday it’s to Cuenca, evidently even more popular in Ecuador than in Spain, lovely colonial architecture etc etc.

Then maybe, just maybe, we can start realising we’re actually on a schedule here and start thinking about Peru. It’s a shame it’s just so much fun hanging around, doing active stuff when we feel like it, and moving on from places when we’re well and truly ready. Oh the tragedy of unrealised possibilities.

Anyway! Buenas tardes y hasta Riobamba…

(Meanwhile, enjoy this picture of roasting guinea pigs we’ve finally been able to add!)
